One million children discussing current affairs through Topical Talk

We are delighted to share that, since the start of the 2025-26 academic year, more than one million children have used Topical Talk in their classrooms.

This is a significant milestone for the Foundation. Just six years ago, fewer than 3,000 children were using our resources. Today, Topical Talk is used by teachers in 99 countries across the world, helping children engage with current affairs through structured discussion and debate.

At a time of growing political polarisation, fractured public discourse and rapid advances in artificial intelligence, helping children become more informed and open-minded about the world around them is increasingly important.

This year alone, children have explored topics ranging from the conflict in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to ICE raids, taxation and the politics of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These discussions have taken place in classrooms across six continents, demonstrating the appetite that exists among young people to engage with the issues shaping their lives.

This achievement would not have been possible without the thousands of teachers who use our resources each week, our partners and supporters, and the wider community that champions current-affairs education.

The Foundation was built on a belief that children should be given the right tools and opportunities to engage thoughtfully with complex issues. Reaching one million children suggests that more educators than ever share that belief.

We are enormously grateful to everyone who has helped make this milestone possible. If you’d like to help us bring current-affairs discussions to even more classrooms around the world, please consider donating to us here.
